Project Octagon

I am currently working with the National Theatre of Scotland on Project Octagon as a workshop assistant. If you'd like to get involved as a performer see the call out below.

Volunteers required for Project Octagon

The National Theatre of Scotland is looking for male volunteer performers between the ages of 18 and 40 to take part in an exciting, UK-wide theatre project for Summer 2016, working with partners in England, Scotland and Wales. We are looking to recruit individuals who are dedicated and enthusiastic about taking part in a one-off, large-scale event, which will be directed by an award-winning team. Alongside hundreds of other people, you will be taking part in a performance that will mark a moment in history. Due to the nature of the performance, all participants will require to have a good level of physical fitness. The roles will require no previous acting experience, however you will need to be comfortable with performing in a public space.

To take part, you must be available in Glasgow on all of the following dates:

Sunday 15th May
Sunday 22nd May
Sunday 29th May
Sunday 5th June
Sunday 12th June
Sunday 19th June
Sunday 26th June
Friday 1st July

N.B. If you are not sure whether you can commit to all of these dates, or have questions about particular times or dates, please contact me on the address below for more information

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
If you are interested in performing as part of the project, please complete this form and provide your personal details and specifics around measurements etc. After this a member of the National Theatre of Scotland team will be in contact to invite you along to the first session on Sunday 15thMay. There are a limited number of posts and so the session on 15th May will involve an element of selection process, but please don’t worry if you don’t have previous performance experience – we are actively looking for a diverse range of men from different backgrounds.

We are also looking for volunteers in the areas of assistant stage management, costume assistant, producing support and general/runner support. If you are interested in signing up for these roles, please complete this form and indicate the type of role that you are most interested in, and let us know a bit about yourself and why you’d like to be involved. There are a limited number of posts which we’ll be recruiting for throughout the months of May and June. Based on the information provided in these forms, we’ll invite a number of applicants to meet with us informally at NTS, where we’ll finally be able to share information about the content of the project (upon signature of a confidentiality agreement) and will allocate volunteer roles from this point on.

If you have any questions at all about the project or the signup process, please contact dawn.taylor@nationaltheatrescotland.com.
